- Salary: £42,621 Per Annum
- Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off shift pattern (06:00 - 18:00 / 18:00 - 06:00) 42hrs per week
- Contract Type: Permanent
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team at a busy parcel delivery company. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of conveyor belts and sortation controls to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of our distribution centre.
What you'll be doing
- Conduct regular inspections of conveyor belts and sortation controls to identify potential issues and ensure optimal performance.
- Respond to breakdowns and troubleshoot technical problems with conveyor belts and sortation controls, including identifying faulty components, replacing parts, and resetting systems.
- Carry out preventative maintenance on conveyor belts and sortation controls, including lubrication, cleaning, and calibration.
- Work with the maintenance team to develop and implement maintenance schedules, procedures and protocols.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in the maintenance of conveyor belts and sortation controls, and provide recommendations to management.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Provide guidance and support to junior technicians and apprentices.
What you need to show us
- Proven experience in a hands on maintenance / repair or fabricating role preferably in a fast-paced industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of conveyor belt and sortation control systems, including electrical, mechanical and pneumatic components desirable but not essential.
- Strong fault-finding skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical problems quickly and effectively.
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Positive attitude towards work essential with the ability to use initiative.
- Good organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
- Qualification in an engineering or technical discipline, such as electrical or mechanical engineering.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and experience working in a safe and clean working environment.
- Flexibility to work a 4on 4off shift pattern, including weekends and nights.
